I changed the second switch to also say S3/S4 and rebooted but still no link light. I did think it odd both switches did not indicate the exact same settings given they are both brand new. Cisco documentation is pretty light on the subject, so it seems like a basic issue of cabling the ports and verifying the settings.īoth switches are in native stacking mode. I set the first switch to stack unit 1, the second to 2. Selecting the save and reboot, or power cycling the switches never get a link light to come on.

Right now the switches are connected with a patch cable between one of the standard ports. The full part description on the cable is Tripp Lite 1-Meter SFP+ 10 Gbase-CU Twinax Passive Copper Cable, Green (N280-01-Meter-GN). It seems either the cable is not the correct part, although it seems to match when I look it up, the cable is bad, or there is a problem with one of the switches. I got in the CLI hoping for some troubleshooting or configuration commands, but there doesn't look like much to do from the CLI with stacking. If anyone has stacked these switches I'd love to hear what steps you took, and also which cable you're using.
